Crafty! Recovering a Cat Tower!

I bought the kitties a nice tower a few years ago from Petco. They were having a killer sale and I got it for $75 and free shipping! They LOVE it and after a few years of using it,  you could really tell. The carpet covering it was disgusting and took forever to vacuum and even then would not come clean. When we moved I was NOT going to bring that nasty hairball covered thing into our nice clean house so I decided to recover it! Took forever to get around to it but I FINALLY finished it this week and am pretty satisfied with the result! (This being the first piece of "furniture" I have ever recovered)

I bought some duck cloth from Joann's for $10 a yard. I wanted something like an indoor/outdoor fabric that would not act like Velcro with the cat hair and would come clean fairly easy.

I didn't bother measuring how much exactly I needed but figured 3 yards would do, and I had a 50% off coupon so it was a pretty cheap project!

Anyway, I started by vacuuming as much hair off as I could. Not very successful but it would get covered up anyway.

EEWWWW!!!!!!

It was pretty gross. All this hair is just caked into the carpeting. Y.U.K

Duck cloth!

Take the tower apart (Allen wrench needed)
Take BEFORE pics!!! You will need them for reference to put the thing back together when you finish!

Measure and cut fabric to cover each piece.

Label your fabric pieces in case they get mixed up!

It was easiest (and more secure) to glue, then staple the edges.

Fold edges under and glue small sections at a time, pulling the fabric tight as you go.

Once all side are glued, staple the edges with a staple gun

DONE! Repeat with each piece. Some pieces will take more patience than others... And you will be sure to burn your fingers a few times with scalding hot glue........

Finished Product! :)

I think it looks pretty good, eh?

16 weeks!

Not much exciting news this week. We had our 16 week check up yesterday and everything is looking good! Got to hear the heartbeat again :) :) :) The only issue is I have another UTI and have to go on daily antibiotics through 36 weeks :( That sucks. Stupid urinary tract... (Ive had cronic UTIs since I was 12-13 ish....)
We find out if this little bee is a boy or girl on May 8th!!!! Then we will have family over for the big reveal! I cannot wait!!! It was hard to say no to the sneek peek but it will be all the more exciting when we do find out, and it will be more accurate anyway! Im ready to start shopping!
We did get some paint chips last weekend to see which shade of sage and pink or blue we want and Chad is anxious to start chair rail and painting :) Soon soon!!!!!

15 weeks!

Not much exciting going on this past week (I guess that would be my 14th week... this is going to get confusing...) except this little bumblebee must be going through a MAJOR growth spurt! I CANNOT get enough to eat during the day! I eat lunch, get back to work and feel like I havent eaten ANYTHING! IM STARVING but I am not giving in so quickly. I need to keep healthy snacks at the clinic instead of raiding the candy drawer to curb my cravings.

I did have my FIRST really real gotta have it NOW craving last Thursday for WATERMELON!!! MMMMMMMMM!!!! on my way home from work. Good thing Publix is on the way!

Otherwise I have felt wonderful! Here's my 15 week pic :)

Intro, pregnancy update, etc :)

So I decided to go ahead and create a blog. Mainly to document our first pregnancy but also because it seems like the cool thing to do now  haha :)

Getting a late start on keeping up with this pregnancy stuff. I wanted to start immediately but I felt AWEFUL and just had no motivation at ALL! So now, here I am at 14 weeks, over a third of the way through the most incredible milestone of my life and have NOTHING to show for it but the fact that my wardrobe has grown with fat clothes! We wanted to begin taking weekly pictures at 8 weeks (our 1st ultrasound) but missed the bus completely. So heres a recap of whats been going on the past 14 weeks!

We moved in to our new house January 26th (yay!!) I was supposed to start my period on the 15th but was late. I just figured it was due to all the stress of closing, getting the house ready, etc... that I hadnt started. I waited and waited for symptoms of Flo to come but they just didnt. No moodiness, cramping, nada... Dammit.... Decided not to really worry myself til I was officially 2 weeks late, but GAH I was so freakin TIRED all the time! In our Brand New house I had been dreaming or for years and I didnt even want to get off the couch! So Thursday Jan 31, but the bullet, bought the test (didnt tell Chad....) and after dinner took the test.... There was no mistake. 2 lines appeared almost immediately.... and now Im sweating. OH SHIT! what am I going to say to him!?!? How the hell am I going to tell my husband that we just BOUGHT AN FREAKIN HOUSE and not EVEN a week into it IM PREGNANT!?!?!?!?! OH.MY.GOD......  But I walked out of that bathroom, sat beside him on the couch and showed him the proof.... And he took it better than I expected! I dont know why I thought he would be mad. Or dissapointed. Or frustrated. I just pictured him blaming me for some reason! But he was shocked, then very happy - elated even :) Much different reaction than I had. I was freaking OUT. It got better though. I figured I was 5 weeks along then.
So for the next 2-3 weeks, I felt like crap. Super tired, nauseous (but no vomiting), just blah. I had to eat constantly or I would get nauseous, and the smell of my new house made me so sick to my stomach every time I walked in the door! The only aversion I have had thus far has been to my new house. A mix of new paint, new carpet, weird lingering smells mixed with the dogs made me want to puke every day when I came home. I actually dreaded it. But it got better and by the time we went for our first appointment (8weeks) my energy was better and NO MORE NAUSEA! YAY!! Since then I have felt nothing. nada. Am I really even pregnant???

At this point, 14 weeks today, all I really feel is fat. I have had to buy maternity clothes already... but atleast they are cute and not hideous like they were back in the day!! I have only gained 1 pound (according to my scale) and I feel great! No cravings, no aversions, no weird anything!

Were finally able to start taking pics tonight so here are a few!

Of course, our other 3 kids had to be involved too!!
